I don’t believe insurance is the problem. It is the extreme cost billed by doctors. Example: Comparison of charges for my children’s shots within only 3 years. My first child had a $37 doctor visit with a $300 shot bill at 6 months old. My second child at 6 months had the same care at a $120 doctor visit with a $700 shot bill. Same doctor! Same care! Is this legal! These are just routine health check ups.

Who can afford to stay healthy anymore? And God forbid for the people who really get sick! I believe doctors should be compisated for their education and important services they provide but it is getting out of hand. I also feel that the time and efficiency provided by many of the medical professions are severly declining. What are your feelings?

I’ve called other clinics, but the receptionists told me that if I have insurance already, I’d have you pay around $200 to get checked. It doesn’t really matter to me where I get checked, but I don’t want the parents to know. Has anyone had a similar experience? So, I have Kaiser Permanente insurance, and I’m pregnant. I got a bunch of blood drawn for the standard tests they give all women, including HIV. I hate getting tested for HIV because I always seem to stress out and somehow convince myself I have it, when I’ve always been fine. The nurse who took my blood said I would get a phone call from my doctor is anything was wrong, but that they won’t call if I’m fine. About how many days do you think will go by before I can stop jumping out of my skin everytime the phone rings because I think it’s the doctor calling me to tell me I’m dying. I know most of the time through clinics, it’s 3 days. I dont know if it’s the same with Kaiser, wondering if anyone else knows. I got my blood taken on Tuesday around noon, and went through today (Wedsenday) with no call. How much longer until I can stop freaking out about the phone????

I have Kaiser Permanente Insurance, I found out I was pregnant - they told me there was no co-pay for my pre-natal check-ups (which I was told meant they covered it all). What I was curious about was as far as labor costs go, does anyone know what they cover? I keep trying to find information regarding it but I am having no luck.

Will the elimination of private health insurance impact life expectancy? The US has been the haven of last refuge for the world. Now that we are on the verge of joining socialized medicine - will waiting 6 months to get angioplasty or bypass surgery materially impact the size of the population in the US? Comparisons have been made to medicare, which routinely disallows procedures due to cost. If all the US is on a public platform that is cost conscious - what will be cut, when and how will it impact the US?
